Birthdays are special milestones, particularly for children. Kids love traditional birthday celebration customs, such as having a birthday cake, blowing out candles, and opening presents. Kids also love hosting a party where they’re the guest of honor.
Coming up with kids’ birthday party activities can be tricky and time-consuming. The thought of having a house full of kids may also be overwhelming. That’s why Monster Mini Golf is the perfect kid’s birthday party idea. Kids of all ages love mini golf. Plus, you’ll enjoy the use of a private Haunted Mansion event room, where you can host additional activities kids love.
Silly Contests
Kids love silly contests, and you can add to the fun by crowning a champion for each contest you host or awarding the winner a silly prize! Kids love stickers, temporary tattoos, and things like funky pencils, so it’s easy to fill up a bucket with affordable prizes you can give out for each contest.
Monster Mash Dance
Stick to the monster theme and host a monster mash dance. The winner is the one who does the best job dancing like a monster.
I Spy With My Monster Eye
Give each child a pair of crazy monster eyeglasses. You can glue monster cutouts over the lenses of inexpensive glasses from party favors packs or cover the lenses with eyeballs of all sizes. Just leave a small hole for kids to see out of, adding an extra challenge to a game of I Spy. This great contest gives everyone a chance to win a prize.
Flying Monster Contest
Buy a pack of mini monsters and bring some glue, scissors, and cardstock paper for this contest. Give each child a monster and access to the materials, and have them turn their monster into a flying monster. When everyone’s flying monster is ready, have the kids line up and send their monsters soaring — the monster that flies the farthest wins.
Fun Games
You don’t have to turn every game into a contest with prizes. Kids love games, and there are easy ways to turn classics into monsteriffic fun games!
Pin the Tail on the Monster
Turn Pin the Tail on the Donkey into a game of Pin the Tail on the Monster. You’ll need the following:
- A monster image you can hang on the wall
- Several tails
- Pins or sticky tack
- A blindfold
Since Halloween is so popular, you can buy a monster cutout you can hang on the wall. You can also put a window decal on a piece of poster board.
Human, Human, Monster
The best thing about a game of duck, duck, goose is that all you need to play is the kids. Have them sit in a circle. Whoever’s it to start will tap heads as they go around, but instead of saying, “Duck, duck, goose,” they’ll say, “Human, human, monster.” When they tap a monster, the two run around the circle, trying to claim the space. Whoever gets back last will be it next.
Feed the Monster
Feed the Monster is Cornhole with a monster twist. This variation involves putting monster faces on the cornhole boards so their mouths line up with the holes. Kids can toss bean bags to try to feed the monsters. You can play this as a team game if you choose!
Monster Face Painting
Kids love getting their faces painted, and one way to add to the fun is to offer face painting before your guests enjoy our featured attractions. Use glow-in-the-dark face paint so everyone’s face glows when they play mini golf!
Monster Piñatas
Kids love smashing piñatas apart, especially if they’re filled with candy! Having several piñatas ensures everyone gets a turn to hit the piñata and grab some goodies! Depending on the number of guests at your kid’s birthday party, you could even have a piñata for each person!
Birthday Feast
For some kids, enjoying party food counts as an exciting activity! We can supply cheese and pepperoni pizzas and juice boxes at Monster Mini Golf in Norwood. You can also bring a birthday cake if you want to go the traditional route. Are you worried about germs? Bring an extra cupcake with candles. This way, the birthday person can blow out the candles on the cupcake without blowing on the cake before you serve it!
Our Attractions

Encourage kids to wear fluorescent colors, like green, orange, pink, and yellow, so they glow in the dark on their way through the course.
