MONROE, N.C. — Monster Mini-Golf, a franchised entertainment venue made its way to Union County and opened its doors as the first indoor mini golf location in Monroe in August.
It’s parent company, Monster Entertainment, opened the location just in time for the Fall weather and Halloween festivities to arrive. Inside the venue is a birthday party room, a small bowling alley, an arcade, and an exclusive mini golf course in the dark.
Christopher King, the CEO of Monster Entertainment, expressed joy in bringing more entertainment to Monroe.
“It is very exciting for us to not only bring the first indoor mini golf center to Union County, but also to bring and affordable Family Entertainment Center,” King said. “When looking for our 3rd location in the Charlotte-metro area, it became very obvious that Monroe and surrounding area were lacking a unique family entertainment option.
For each location, the artwork in all Monster Mini Golf locations is hand-painted and locally inspired. The company executives and artists do a storyboard for each city that we are planning to open a venue. During this process, the company searches for local celebrities, industry, obscure laws and more, which then become the tapestry that surrounds the Mini Golf courses.
Artwork surrounding the golf course includes a painting of Marshville native and country artist Randy Travis, the Queen’s Cup Steeplechase, and a train headed to Monroe from Gastonia and Charlotte.
King said Monster Mini Golf tries not to compete with Halloween, “as trick or treating is a timeless pastime that rules the day.”
“We are a nice compliment to Halloween, but not our goal to try and own that haunted day,” King said.
Monster Mini Golf currently has 31 locations in operation between the United States and Canada. They have another 19 in development for a total of 50 locations.
The cost to play mini golf is $10 for players under five feet tall and $13 for everyone else.
Monster Mini Golf in Monroe, located at 114 E Sunset Drive, is open Monday through Thursday from noon to 9 p.m., Friday and Saturday from noon until 10 p.m., and Sunday from noon to 8 p.m.
